Tooth extraction is the process of removing a tooth. When removing teeth, our first priority is your comfort and safety. Contrary to belief, removing teeth should be completely comfortable, and we take it at a pace that suits you. Dental extractions are done under a local anaesthetic, so you will be numb during your treatment.
Why do I need an extraction?
Extractions are a last resort for teeth that will not benefit from other treatments or where all other treatment options have been exhausted.
There are numerous reasons why a tooth extraction might be necessary; these include:
A tooth fracture below the gum line
Fractured or broken tooth roots
Failed RCT treatment
Chronic infection
Loose teeth from periodontitis
Patients undergoing orthodontic treatment may also need teeth removed to make space for alignment. This is done under the instruction of an orthodontist.

The main benefits of tooth extraction are either to alleviate discomfort or to prevent discomfort. We understand that nobody wants to lose a tooth, and we will treat you with due care and empathy.
What can I expect during my appointment?
A detailed description of the process is essential so that you are aware of any potential issues, even if they are unlikely. We will also discuss your expectations before, during, and after your treatment.
When you’re ready, we’ll administer a local anaesthetic to make the extraction as comfortable as possible. A dentist will carefully evaluate the surrounding area to ensure it is numb before extracting the tooth. You may feel some pressure during the extraction, but you will not be uncomfortable.
First time here, I took my elderly father in law. All the staff were so lovely, friendly and welcoming. The practice was spotless. My father in law was very nervous as he hasn't been to a dentist for a long time. They couldn't have put him more at ease. The dentist we saw introduced himself as Bruno, and was so lovely, he explained everything, and asked if we had any questions, and didn't rush anything. Absolutely the best dentist in Barnsley and I have experienced a few. I have had a lot of dental problems over the years and suffer from anxiety. The team at FP are like my second family they are always show upmost professionalism but are also so down to earth and so caring they are always willing to help no matter how big or small your issue. I will be forever grateful.
My initial reservations when FP Dental took over from my original dentist were quickly allayed. Several years on, I am still completely happy with the level of service I receive from the whole team in a professional and friendly manner. I've been a patient at FP Dental since I was young and now my own daughter and husband come here too. Aside of being highly knowledgeable, all the staff are lovely and friendly - so much so, that my 5yro daughter looks forward to going and has never had a fear of Dentists! They offer amazing varied services including cosmetic/aesthetic work at which theye highly skilled. I've never struggled to get an appointment and their patient care is outstanding.The clinic itself is always very clean and welcoming and they're also close to a free car park. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Amazing dentist. Best that I have been to. Great getting my 6 year old daughter out of pain. A few of my friends have had implants with Bruno and they are recommending them to other friends and colleagues!!!
